But inorder to get started with the SEO/SEM techniques you should know the basic terms which are involved with SEO.These
terms are sure to increase your knowledge about SEO.
SEO terms involved in Strategy building :--
1) Hidden keywords :-- Keywords which are used in the page but are hidden from the visitors.
2) Keyword stuffing :-- Unnecessary use of keywords in the content of the page. This is usually done to get noticed by search engines.
3) Link Farm :-- A group of web [pages which are linked to each other. this is generally done to fool search engines and to get higher rankings.
4) mirroring :-- It is a technique where you create two identical websites in order to promote two different sets of keywords.
5) Cloaking :-- By using this technique search engines are provided with a page other than the normal web page of the site. Generally used by Spammers. this technique has been banned.
General SEO Terms
1) Back link :-- the links that points back to your own website.
2) Blot :-- It is another term used for robots. These are software programs that scan the web pages of the site in order to index them.
3)SEO :-- Search Engine Optimization , It is a technique of making attractive webpages for the web spiders by making use of relevant content and keywords.
4)SEO Spam :-- This term is used for unethical SEO practices. Which are against the rules of SEO.
5) SEM :-- Search engine Marketing, it includes marketing strategies for websites such as banner ads.
AdWords Terminology
1) CPC (Cost per Click) :-- It is the money which is paid to the website when ever a person clicks the link of that website from outside
advertising campaign.
2) Hallway Page :-- An index page that links to a group of internal webpages for the spiders to crawl.
3) Organic listing :-- Listing of websites which is done on the basis of relevant keywords, content, and keyword density.
4) PPC (Pay per click) :-- In this technique the websites pay only when traffic is sent to their site by clicking trough an advertisement.
5) PR (Page Rank) :-- This technique is used by Google in order to measure the link popularity of the web site.
